Frequently Asked Questions
You’re in control. Together, we’ll explore what’s right for you, and I will hold you accountable to the goals and dreams you set yourself. Whilst it’s impossible to say what will unfold, what I do know is this: If you show up, and are committed to your life, things will change. The degree in which they change will depend on how strong your desire is.
This depends on the client too. While some clients prefer a short-term partnership, others take a longer-term view and continue indefinitely. There is a minimum of 3 month commitment in the initial stage of the coaching relationship, which exists in order to bring full value to the process – often, after a few weeks, things start to ‘move’ for clients, and it is beneficial to be coach through them to understand the powerful dynamics involved – thereafter, it can be cancelled by either party with 1 month notice.
My standard practice is to have 3 sessions per month, each of 45 minutes. Sometimes we start with 3 sessions and then drop back to 1 or 2 a little further down the track.
Absolutely. It’s simply a matter of agreeing a convenient time to call, and we connect over Skype.
Wondering if coaching is really what you need? The best way to find out for yourself is to have a free trial session with me. Just drop me a note and we can talk. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, I work over skype, viber, facetime, whatsapp calls and a few other applications.
Coaching may not be right for everyone, and it’s also important to know if there is a good ‘connection’ between coach and client. As such, an initial free-of-charge discussion takes place to explore expectations, and what’s possible in coaching. No strings attached: if it works, hire me. If it doesn’t, no further action required.
But generally, if you…
- are feeling stuck or trapped;
- need a change but can’t figure out what exactly you want;
- have a dream or a business idea but don’t know where to start;
- want to change something in your life but everything you tried before didn’t work;
- want more fulfilling, satisfying and juicy life. Life that is more fun!
then coaching can work for you. Give it a try.
Coaching is a tool that helps people maximise their own personal and professional potential. Coaching is a one-to-one partnership in which you are the expert in your own life. That’s it in the nutshell.
There is a more formal definition of coaching by ICF (International Coaching federation): coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach’s responsibility is to:
- Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
- Encourage client self-discovery
- Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
- Hold the client responsible and accountable
This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.
I believe coaching is not about solving problems, although the problems will be solved. It is not primarily about improving performance, attaining goals, or achieving results, although all of that will certainly happen over time in an effective coaching relationship. Coaching is chiefly about discovery, awareness and choice. It is a way of effectively empowering people to find their own answers, encouraging and supporting them on the path as they continue to make important life-giving and life-changing choices.
